The Challenge: Managing Growing IT Needs
As Bim Group expanded its services and client base, their IT requirements also grew more complex. That’s when they turned to LCS IT Services. According to Heather Taylor, Bim Group’s Director of Client Experience, LCS quickly became “our one-stop shop for all things IT.”
Since 2018, LCS IT Services has supported Bim Group with server hosting, hardware, helpdesk services, cybersecurity, and on-site workstation setup. Their role became especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“None of us were prepared for March of 2020 with COVID,” says Taylor. “Not knowing in advance how important it was to have a partner and that readiness to help us go to remote work so quickly. That was something none of us could have foreseen. But now, knowing how valuable it was to have LCS on our side, that was a lifesaver.”
Today, whenever Bim Group employees work remotely and encounter a technical issue, they contact LCS helpdesk and directly for real-time support.
With so many clients and multiple locations, cybersecurity became a top priority. LCS implemented email monitoring and encryption services, VPNs, and two-factor authentication across Bim Group’s systems. Taylor says she also has been working closely with the LCS IT Services team on an ongoing file security project, restricting access to sensitive client data through updated employee permissions.
“[LCS is] very attuned to the rapidly evolving ways that people can compromise us via phishing and all that,” says Taylor. “Keeping up with all of that by testing our employees, that’s a big deal to us. It’s just the peace of mind.”
One of the major advantages of LCS managing Bim Group’s IT services is no longer having to worry about unexpected server downtime. Before partnering with LCS, Taylor says their previous IT company had numerous day-to-day technical issues that would halt their work in its tracks, sometimes for days at a time. “[With LCS] there’s never been a time where there’s a work stoppage,” says Taylor. “And if it is for updates and things you all need to do, LCS is always very [cognizant] of making sure we’re aware so we can communicate [downtime] to our team.”
Initially, Bim Group was hesitant to work with a provider located outside of Lexington. But LCS’ flexibility—including their willingness to travel, particularly for in-person support and hardware setup at a new Louisville office—quickly proved the value of the relationship.
More importantly, Taylor says, it’s the people at LCS that set the company apart.
“IT is not our business, but whenever we need help, it feels like LCS is in the huddle with us,” she explains. “I hear all the time from new employees who need to engage with IT support on [the] day-to-day […] how kind and patient [the team is]. It always seems that [the team] loves what they’re doing. They’re happy and fulfilled.”
