And in the blink of an eye, the end of 2023 is upon us. It’s been a busy year at LCS—we put on 27 internal events for our company—it’s been a wild ride, but we love getting to see our employees working and playing together, building connections that will last a lifetime.
As we approach the new year, we wanted to look back at the internal events we loved over the past six months and reflect on all the fun we had:
We hosted Bring Your Child to Work Day in July, with two days of laughter, learning, and fun. Our team got to show their children where they work and what they do, and the kids got to learn a bit about their parents’ jobs at LCS and how a company our size functions. With a few games and Mario Kart thrown in as well, it was safe to say everyone had a blast. Of course, we had to commemorate the event with a video, getting first-hand testimonials from the kids themselves about what they really think goes on at LCS.
Also, in July, LCS team members donated to one of our charity partners in exchange for team points towards the LCS Olympics. Partnering with Operation Give Back, employees contributed school supplies to help underprivileged children succeed in the upcoming school year. Over the course of the month, LCS collected and donated over 1,000 items for the school supplies drive.
Always an employee favorite, the 2023 LCS Olympics brought two days of friendly competition and challenges to our eight Olympics teams. Working together with employees from across the company, each team battled their way through 11 events that tested physical prowess, mental acuity, and teamwork. Some of our integrated partners even got in the action by providing employees with snacks, drinks, and shaved ice. Congratulations to team “Smells Like Green Spirit” for their epic rock-paper-scissors tie-breaking win to become the 2023 LCS Olympics Champions!
Coming in for another lap after a roaring success in 2022, the September Mario Kart Tournament had LCS-ers racing to the virtual finish line in an epic competition. 69 employees raced through preselected courses with blue shells blazing to crown six winners over two days of battle.
It might have been a blustery October evening, but LCS employees and their families gathered to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse on the LCS lawn for our annual Outdoor Movie Night. With snacks galore and comfy lawn chairs, this event is a hit for our employees and their families to come watch a movie at the office together.
Another annual tradition, the LCS Halloween Costume Contest had our team transforming into ghouls, goblins, and… corn dogs? Both individuals and groups took home prizes for the Funniest, Most Original, and Best Overall Costumes. The creativity every year never ceases to amaze. Congratulations to our spooky winners!
November brought us together with an abundance of good food, which meant it was time to spread the giving spirit at LCS. The Thanksgiving Potluck came with plenty of delicious dishes to share at lunch for a chance to slow down and say ‘thanks’ to our co-workers for another amazing year. It was delicious, from mashed potatoes to Skyline dip, and the company was even better!
The holiday season is the perfect time to give back, and we hosted two charity events this year to do some good for our local community. First, we partnered with New Path Child & Family Solutions to “adopt” children in need to help make their holiday wishes come true. 20 children received a variety of personalized gifts from LCS employees—all wrapped up in big red bags to take back to the organization.
For the second charity event in December, LCS-ers donated hundreds of household goods and nonperishable foods to Matthew 25 Ministries, where they would distribute to communities involved in natural disasters across the U.S.
In the spirit of the season, we brought back an old favorite contest and added a new one, all to spread some holiday cheer throughout the office. Our annual Ugly Holiday Sweater Competition is always a big hit, and along with the Holiday Desk Decorating Contest, 9140 Waterstone Boulevard was filled with festive sights all week long. We love celebrating the holidays together and will do anything to make it merry and bright!
Finally, another long-awaited event, we wrapped up 2023 with the annual LCS Holiday Party! With a Hawaiian Luau theme, over 550 employees and their guests gathered at the Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate all of our accomplishments over the course of the year. CEO and President of LCS, Dave Hegemann, gave a presentation that highlighted an entire year’s worth of hard work and fun events, and we hula danced into the night with a stunning performance from HulaDancers.com. It’s always a treat to celebrate another successful year together.
