The Community Impact of RMUC
For nearly two decades, the Rent Manager User Conference has provided something to the property management industry that is becoming...

As LCS celebrates the 10-year anniversary of its headquarters, we’re reflecting on the journey that brought us here. It’s a story that begins with one family’s property management business, grows through a company rooted in Cincinnati, and continues today through hundreds of employees from across the country and around the world.
Over the years, our products, services, and team have grown significantly. While our reach now extends far beyond Ohio, the culture we’ve built has remained firmly rooted in Cincinnati. It’s where our team has grown, where lasting relationships have been formed, and where we’ve continued to invest in the community that has helped shape who we are.
Looking back over the last decade at our headquarters is really about looking back at the people, places, and milestones that have made LCS what it is today.
Long before LCS became a recognized name in the property management industry, our story began with a problem for Dave Hegemann’s family.
In the early 1980s, Dave’s family owned and managed a mixed-use property. At the time, managing the business meant keeping track of information by hand, organizing folders, and relying on processes that were anything but efficient.
Dave knew there had to be a better way.
He began developing software to make managing the property easier. What started as a solution for his family’s business eventually became the foundation for Rent Manager, the property management software that would become the cornerstone of LCS.
LCS was founded in 1987 and officially incorporated in 1988. While the company’s earliest days began in London, Ohio—where it gets its name—its growth soon led to Cincinnati, where LCS established the headquarters, team, and culture that continue to define the company today.
As LCS grew, so did its connection to Cincinnati.
Today, we’re proud to call Cincinnati home. LCS has been named a Cincinnati Top Workplace for more than a decade, including earning the recognition for the 15th consecutive year in 2026. For us, that recognition means a great deal because it reflects the people who make LCS what it is and the community we’ve been proud to be part of for so many years.
That connection extends well beyond our headquarters. Many LCS employees attended local universities, and we regularly connect with students at career fairs and campus events at schools like the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, and Xavier University. We also offer tuition benefits for University of Cincinnati employees, creating another way to invest in the community that has helped shape our story.
Our employees also support local organizations through volunteer work, charitable giving, and community partnerships, including Operation Give Back and NewPath Child & Family Solutions. We’re actively involved with local industry organizations and initiatives that strengthen the property management and business communities throughout the region.
Being rooted in Cincinnati means more than having an office here. It means building careers here, creating lasting partnerships, supporting our neighbors, and continuing to invest in the community that has supported us.
Walk through the shared break room at LCS headquarters, and you’ll find a display of 155 university flags lining the walls. Each one represents a school attended by someone on our team.
Some of those flags represent universities just down the road. Others come from schools across the country and around the world.
Together, they tell the story of the people who have helped shape LCS. Every flag represents different experiences, perspectives, cultures, and ideas that have come together under one roof. While our roots remain firmly planted in Cincinnati, the people who have built LCS have come from all over the world.
That diversity of backgrounds strengthens our team every day. Different experiences lead to different ideas, new ways of thinking, and fresh perspectives that help us continue to innovate and better serve our customers.

Today, more than 550 employees develop technology and provide services that support businesses across the country and around the world. Our team travels to meet customers, builds relationships with partners and industry organizations, and works alongside property management professionals in markets far beyond our home base.
Our annual Rent Manager User Conference is one example of that growth. RMUC has brought our community together in destinations including San Diego and San Antonio, creating opportunities to connect face-to-face with customers, partners, and industry professionals from across the country. And wherever we go, community remains part of the experience, whether that means supporting local organizations, giving back in the cities we visit, or simply spending time with the customers who continue to shape our products.
Growth hasn’t meant leaving our roots behind. Instead, it’s meant carrying them with us. The values that shaped LCS in Cincinnati continue to guide us as we build relationships, serve customers, and expand our impact around the world.
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking ahead. LCS continues to grow, and every new employee brings unique experiences, ideas, and perspectives that become part of our story.
